Use of Public Printers for Students/External Users

A balance on the MensaCard/StudentCard is required. The card is placed on the special card reader located at the right of the device. By placing the card on the reader, it is registered with the device, and the balance is transferred from the card to the printing and copying system.

The printing system only recognizes the Studiendenwerks number and is independent of your HTW account. Therefore, it can be used by all holders of a StudentCard, CampusCard, or MensaCard from the Studierendenwerk Berlin. Through myPrint, you can establish a link between your HTW account and your StudentCard for use via email and for uploading files via a website.

StudentCard/MensaCard Reader

To use the printer, you must place your StudentCard/MensaCard on the small card reader located at the right of the device. The card must remain there while you use the device. By placing the card on the reader, it becomes registered, and the balance from the card is loaded into printing system. As a result, no balance remains on the card, and you can use this balance for printing, copying, and scanning. Please refer to the pricing list.

Don't forget to log out!

Important: Don't forget to log out! You can do this using the logout button at the top right or the home icon at the bottom of the start screen. Your remaining balance will only be re-credited to your StudentCard/MensaCard upon logging out. Therefore, the card must not be removed from the reader during the entire copying/printing process.

If you have successfully logged out, the message will appear: "Transaction successfully completed. Remaining credit: XX,XX €".

If you remove the card before logging out, an acoustic warning signal will sound, and after logging out, the message will be displayed: "Put the card back to complete the money transaction".

If you happen to forget to log out...

If you did not log out and your balance was not re-credited to your StudentCard/MensaCard, simply place the card on the reader again. The balance remains in the system until you log in again at one of the printing devices. It does not have to be the same device you last used.

The balance that was not re-credited will be loaded back onto the card when you place the card on the reader again. If, in the meantime, you have added more credit, both balances will be combined. You will then see the message: "Transaction successfully completed. Remaining credit: XX,XX €". You can now remove the card from the reader. By placing it on the reader again, you can use the device with the available balance. Don't forget to log out!
